02 June 2009 - Antrim woman convicted of benefit fraud

An Antrim woman was convicted at Antrim Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

Emma Jane Minford (26) of Kilgreel Road, Antrim failed to declare employment while claiming Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £2,788. She was given a £1,100 fine and a two month sentence suspended for 12 months.

Miss Minford was also given a compensation order for £2,788.

This brings to 189 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
