Deborah Chesney (46) of Shore Crescent, Belfast, claimed Income Support totalling £3,402 while failing to declare she was working full time from November 2005 to June 2006. Miss Chesney was given 80 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £31.
Orla McCourt (25) of Victoria Parade, Belfast, claimed Income Support totalling £1,713 while failing to declare she was working full time from October 2005 to June 2007. Miss McCourt was fined £250 and ordered to pay court costs of £31.
Karen Hill (40) of Linford Green, Newtownabbey, claimed Income Support totalling £7,967 while failing to declare she was working full time from October 2005 to January 2007. Miss Hill was given 80 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £31.
Maire Crossin (28) of Derryveagh Drive, Belfast, claimed Income Support totalling £12,882 while failing to declare she was working full time from January 2002 to December 2006. Miss Crossin was given 80 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £28.
Eileen Reilly (33) of New Barnsley Crescent, Belfast, claimed Income Support totalling £7,835 while failing to declare she was working full time from August 2004 to October 2005. Miss Reilly was fined £250 and ordered to pay court costs of £31.
Leanne Lagan (29) of Milford Street, Belfast, was fined £400 and ordered to pay £22 court costs for duplicate encashment of Income Support cheques totalling £380 during September 2006 to October 2006 and August 2007.
Mary McNeill (57), of Glenwood Green, Belfast, was given a 12 month conditional discharge for falsely claiming £2,876 in Income Support without disclosing that she had capital from October 2002 to June 2004.
All seven are also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 309 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
