Portadown woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ court yesterday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

The woman (33) from Portadown claimed Carers’ Allowance, Income Support and Housing Benefit toatalling £23,326 while failing to declare work. She was given an 18 month prison sentence suspended for three years on each count to run concurrently.

She will also have to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
