Man convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court

A man was convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Patrick McManus (38) of Main Street, Killough claimed Job Seekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £1,608 while failing to declare he was living with a partner. He was fined £100 and given a twelve month conditional discharge.

Mr McManus is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 427 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
