05 January 2010 - Newtownbutler man convicted of Benefit Fraud

A man was convicted at Enniskillen Magistrates Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

He failed to declare employment while claiming Housing Benefit, Jobseekers Allowance and Income Support totalling £7,372. He was given four months imprisonment suspended for twelve months and fined £250. He was also ordered to pay court costs of £49.

The man is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 2 the total number of successful prosecution this year.
