07 July 2008 - Two convicted of benefit fraud at Magherafelt court

Two people were convicted at Magherafelt Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Daniel Scott (36) of Highfield Road, Magherafelt, claimed Income Support totalling £1,838 while failing to declare he was working. He was fined £200 plus costs.

Lisa Eagleson, (23) of Riverside South, Castledawson, claimed Income Support totalling £1,524 while failing to declare she was working. She was fined £200 plus costs.

Both are also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 224 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
