Two convicted of benefit fraud at Downpatrick court
Monday, 7 December 2009Two people were convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
The first claimed Income Support totalling £2,318 while failing to disclose capital. She was given a twelve month conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £28.
And the second claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £4,287 while failing to declare she was living with her partner. She was fined £100 and ordered to pay court costs of £34.
This brings to 414 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
