Man convicted of benefit fraud at Newry Court
Thursday, 8 October 2009A man has been convicted at Newry Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
He had claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £2,271 while failing to declare employment. He was given a two year conditional discharge.
The man is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 341 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
