09 October 2008 - Banbridge woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Newry Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

Amanda Fitzpatrick (22) of Reilly Park, Banbridge claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £2,531 while failing to declare she was working. She was given two years conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £37.

Miss Fitzpatrick is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 382 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
