10 September 2008 - Minister Ritchie visits Eco Homes in Enniskillen

Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie MLA visited Enniskillen today to see at first hand Eco Homes for older people.

The housing scheme at Abbey Drive consists of ten bungalows developed by Ulidia Housing Association in Partnership with the Department for Social Development.

The Minister said: “This development is a great boost for social housing in the Enniskillen area. I congratulate Ulidia Housing Association on this innovative scheme.

“The bungalows at Abbey Drive have been designed to the Eco Homes ‘Good’ rating standard ensuring they are energy efficient. The specification includes solar panels, and double glazing and they also comply with Lifetime Homes standards. It is an excellent example of Ulidia’s integrated approach to housing.”

Commenting on the visit, John Gartland Chief Executive of Ulidia Housing said: “We are delighted to have completed this new development of ten bungalows in Enniskillen. We welcome our new tenants and wish them every happiness in their new homes.”

  1. The development was completed in 2007 at a total cost of £1million. The Department for Social Development provided £800,000 in grant aid, with Ulidia Housing Association funding the balance of £200,000 through private finance.
