10 September 2008 - Minister Ritchie praises Enniskillen community representatives

Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie MLA today praised the work of community representatives in Enniskillen during a visit to the Kilmacormick Resource Centre.

Commenting on a recent allocation of £7,900 of Neighbourhood Renewal funding for refurbishment work and new equipment at the building she said: “I am delighted to contribute to the good work that community representatives are doing here in Enniskillen. This grant will help to improve this local facility, and maintain projects in child care, education and fitness programmes. It comes on top of £59,000 which my Department has recently provided to tackle health inequalities across the whole of the Enniskillen Neighbourhood Renewal Area.”

The Enniskillen Neighbourhood Renewal Area includes a substantial part of the town centre including the entire island and housing areas at Kilmacormick, Cornagrade, Rossory Church Road, Windmill Heights and Galliagh Park.

A partnership has been set up to assist the Department for Social Development in delivering the Neighbourhood Renewal initiative in Enniskillen. Particular emphasis is placed on enhancing service delivery on issues such as people’s health, educational attainment, employment, the physical environment and community safety.
