Man convicted of benefit fraud at Strabane Court

A man has been convicted at Strabane Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

The man failed to declare capital while claiming Jobseekers Allowance totalling £7,411. He was given four months imprisonment, suspended for two years, on 3 counts and a further conditional discharge for two years. A compensation order was granted for £6,411.

This brings to 304 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
