Women convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast Crown Court

A woman was convicted at Belfast Crown Court yesterday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

The woman was given 12 months imprisonment, suspended for three years, for failure to declare employment while claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £34,860.

She is also required to repay the money she wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 302 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
