Two convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast Court
Tuesday, 10 November 2009Two people were convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
The first was given a £400 fine and ordered to pay £44 court costs for wrongful encashment of Jobseekers Allowance totalling £156.
The second was given a £400 fine and ordered to pay £22 court costs for wrongful encashment of Income Support totalling £313.
Both are required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 378 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
