Two convicted of benefit fraud at Craigavon Court
Tuesday, 11 May 2010Two people were convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
A woman claimed Carers Allowance totalling £17, 815 while failing to declare she was employed. She was given 200 hours community service and a compensation order was granted for £4,800.
A man claimed Income Support totalling £3,466 while failing to declare capital. He was given four months imprisonment suspended for two years and ordered to pay £31 court costs.
They are both required by the Social Security Agency to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained.
