14 August 2008 - Man convicted of benefit fraud at Banbridge court

A man was convicted at Banbridge Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

William Crozier (36) of Lisnacroppin Road, Banbridge claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £13,246 while failing to declare capital.

Mr Crozier was given 200 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £61.

He is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 274 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
