15 January 2010 - Two convicted of Benefit Fraud at Belfast Crown Court

Two people have been convicted at Belfast Crown Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

The first failed to declare capital while claiming Housing Benefit and Income Support totalling £29,133. He was given 200 hours community service.

And the second failed to declare employment while claiming Housing Benefit, Income Support and Carers Allowance totalling £29,210. She was given 200 hours community service.

Both are also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 17 the total number of successful prosecution this year.
