15 February 2010 - Omagh man convicted of Benefit Fraud

A man was convicted at Strabane Magistrates Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

He failed to declare capital while claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £4,742. He was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £37.

He is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 67 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
