Portadown man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

A man Portadown (55) claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £7,786 while failing to declare he had capital. He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for two years, fined £180 and ordered to pay £62 court costs.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
