Ritchie announces funding boost for Coleraine enterprise programme
Thursday, 18 February 2010Minister for Social Development, Margaret Ritchie MLA today announced a funding boost of £31,790 for an educational employability programme for Coleraine schools.
The programme will comprise of three elements;
- ‘Employability Explored’ aims to develop skills and employability;
- ‘Chocolate Challenge’ promotes enterprise and entrepreneurship;
- ‘Nativity by Nature’ aims to build links within and between communities and break down barriers and misunderstanding in young people.
The project will be managed and delivered throughout 2010 by Causeway Enterprise Agency and facilitated by local entrepreneurs.
Margaret Ritchie said: "I want to close the gap between those who live in disadvantaged areas and those who do not. By supporting this project within Neighbourhood Renewal Areas of Coleraine, children and young people living here will have the opportunity to invest in their own futures through new entrepreneur skills and greater confidence and self belief, by working together with pupils from other schools across the town."
