18 June 2008 - Confiscation order over £80,000 against Londonderry man

The Social Security Agency Financial Investigation Unit obtained a Confiscation Order to the Value of £81,570 against Donal Kealey, Priory Road, Dungiven at Londonderry Crown Court.

The defendant had been found guilty of committing social security offences and was given an 18 month custodial sentence suspended for two years on 13 June 2008.

At the confiscation hearing, the Court agreed that the actual loss to the Department for Social Development through the defendant’s criminal activity amounted to £81,570. The Court granted a Confiscation Order of £81,570 to allow for repayments to the Department for Social Development.
