Londonderry woman convicted of benefit fraud
Friday, 18 September 2009A woman was convicted at Londonderry Magistrates Court yesterday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
She claimed Income Support and Carer’s Allowance totalling £7,541 while failing to declare employment. She was given four months imprisonment suspended for 18 months and ordered to pay £79 court costs.
She is required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 317 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
