19 September 2008 - Downpatrick man convicted of benefit fraud

A man who claimed Jobseekers’ Allowance without declaring capital was convicted of benefit fraud at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Patrick Robb (46), of Glebetown Drive, Downpatrick, had falsely claimed a total of £1,465 from February 2004 to July 2004. He was given a conditional discharge for two years.

He is also required to repay the money to the Social Security Agency.

This is the 346th successful prosecution for benefit fraud so far this year.
