23 July 2008 - Man convicted of benefit fraud at Craigavon court

A man was convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Jacob Hector Allen (59) of West Street, Portadown claimed Income Support totaling £4,066 whilst failing to declare he had capital. He was given two years conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £32.

Mr Allen is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 252 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
