23 July 2010 - Two convicted of Benefit Fraud at Craigavon Court

Two women were convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

A Dunmurry woman (24) was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £28 for failure to declare employment while claiming Income Support totalling £2,070

A Lisburn woman (43) was given 30 months imprisonment suspended for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £25 for failure to declare employment and living with a partner while claiming Income Support, Housing Benefit and Rates Rebate totalling £45,263

Both are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
