A man was convicted at Armagh Magistrates’ Court on 19 September 2008 for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
Gordon Scott (46), of Kilgowney Close, Dungannon claimed Income Support, Jobseekers’ Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £5,975 during January 2006 to December 2006 while failing to declare he was working. He was fined £300 and ordered to pay court costs of £46.
He will also have to repay the money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This is the 350th successful prosecution for benefit fraud so far this year.
