24 June 2008 - Man convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast court

A man was convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Mark Carlisle (32) of Russell Court, Belfast, was given 150 hours community service for duplicate encashment of cheques for Income Support and Job Seekers Allowance totalling £805.

Mr Carlisle is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 212 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
