25 June 2009 - Man convicted of benefit fraud at Lisburn court

A man was convicted at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

James Walls (63) of Thornhill Court, Dunmurray was given a six month probation order and ordered to pay £25 court costs for failing to disclose capital while claiming Housing Benefit totalling £4,970.

He is required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 230 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
