25 July 2008 - Man convicted of benefit fraud at Newry court

A man was convicted at Newry Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Gerard Francis Franks (55) of Commans Way, Newry claimed Job Seekers Allowance totalling £1,210 while failing to declare he had capital. He was given twelve months conditional discharge and a Compensation Order for £1,210.

This brings to 253 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
