26 February 2010 - Belfast woman convicted of Benefit Fraud

A woman was convicted at Belfast Crown Court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

She was given 240 hours community service and a 12 month conditional discharge for failure to declare employment while claiming Income support and Housing Benefit totalling £20,539.

She is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 80 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
