Attwood commends staff at Shankill Jobs & Benefits Office following shooting
Friday, 28 May 2010Social Development Minister Alex Atwood MLA has praised staff in the Shankill Jobs and Benefits Office for their work following the tragic shooting outside their offices today.
The office not only stayed open, but staff issued cheques at the gate of the building to ensure local people got their benefits over the bank holiday weekend.
In expressing his shock and condemnation of the murder, Alex Attwood said: "I have just visited staff at the Shankill Jobs and Benefits Office to acknowledge the sterling work they have done in a very difficult situation. While they not only had to deal with this callous murder on their doorstep, they also kept the office open. They issued cheques at the gate of the building to ensure the people of the Shankill Road did not go without benefits over the bank holiday weekend. I want to put on record my sincere thanks for their actions."
