06 April 2009 - Enniskillen man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was given a custodial sentence at Enniskillen Magistrates' Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

John Burns (38) of Main Street, Lisnaskea was sentenced to four months imprisonment for failure to declare income while claiming benefits totalling £12,385.

Mr Burns is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 123 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
