24 April 2009 - Man convicted of benefit fraud at Lisburn court

A man has been convicted at Lisburn Magistrate’s Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Ryan Ballance (23) of Craig Crescent, Lisburn was given a conditional discharge for two years and ordered to pay £25 court costs for failing to declare employment while claiming Jobseekers Allowance totalling £433.

Mr Ballance is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 149 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
