The funding went towards upgrading footpaths and carriageways within the Brandywell, Creggan, Clooney Estate, Top of the Hill and Shantallow areas.
Margaret Ritchie said: “This is good news for the people of Derry. I am pleased to have secured this additional funding through the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme for road service projects. The improvements enhance the physical condition of local areas. This demonstrates my Department’s ongoing commitment to improving the most disadvantaged areas within society. This is evidence that Neighbourhood Renewal is beginning to make a difference on the ground.”
This work was undertaken on the Department’s behalf by the Road Service Western Division. It was overseen by the Department for Social Development’s North West Development Office.
