13 August 2007 - Dungannon man convicted of benefit fraud

A man who claimed Jobseekers’ Allowance and Income Support without declaring capital was convicted of benefit fraud at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court today.

David Cardwell (43), of Dora’s Cottages, Newmills, had falsely claimed a total of £7,829. He was fined £300 and £55 costs. He is also required to repay the money to the Social Security Agency.

This is the 221st successful prosecution for benefit fraud so far this year.
