14 August 2007 - Two convicted of benefit fraud at Dungannon court

A man and a woman were separately convicted of claiming benefits to which they were not entitled at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Paul Gribben (37), of Annagher Drive, Coalisland, had claimed a total of £4,248 in Income Support and Incapacity Benefit whilst not declaring that he was working. He was fined £200 with £61 costs.

At the same court, Lisa McKeown (29), of Windmill Court, Dungannon, was given 100 hours Community Service. She had claimed Income Support payments to a value of £11,781 without declaring that she was employed.

Both defendants are also required by the Social Security Agency to repay the money that they wrongfully acquired. These cases bring the total of successful prosecutions for benefit fraud to 224 so far this year.
