A woman who claimed benefits without declaring that she was living with a partner was convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court today.
Hazel Brown (50), of Banbridge Road, Lurgan, was given a two-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, on each of two charges. She had claimed a total of £18,127 in Housing Benefit and Income Support and is also required by the Social Security Agency to repay the money.
This is the 238th successful prosecution for benefit fraud so far this year.
