A woman was convicted at Newtownards Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
Janice Mackey (44) of 16 Braniel Crescent, Belfast, had received Income Support of £7,010 while failing to disclose that she was living with her partner. She was fined £300.00 and ordered to pay court costs of £75.00
Ms Mackey will also have to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 248 the number of convictions secured so far this year by the Social Security Agency in its campaign against benefit fraud.
