01 August 2008 - Woman convicted of benefit fraud at Coleraine court

A woman was convicted at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

Diane Waddell (50) of Lisnablagh Road, Coleraine, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totaling £1,774 while failing to declare she was working.

Mrs Waddell was fined £200 and ordered to pay court costs of £61.

She is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 257 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
