Man convicted of benefit fraud at Antrim court

A man was convicted at Antrim Crown Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

A 31 year old Antrim man claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £12,390 while failing to declare employment. He was given a four month sentence suspended for two years.

The man is also required to repay the money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 257 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
