Minister visits site for new social housing scheme

Wednesday, 19 December 2007

Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie MLA visited Riverside, Annaclone, today to see at first hand the new site for social housing. It will be a mixed tenure development of twelve homes and is being undertaken by Rural Housing Association.

The Minister said: “This will be a great boost for rural housing in the Banbridge area. I congratulate Rural Housing Association on the efforts it has made to make this scheme a reality. I welcome the good work the Association is doing for people in rural areas who either wish to rent, buy outright or buy through co ownership.

“It is important we sustain communities in rural areas. This scheme will help ensure that many young people will be able to live in the Annaclone / Ballela area. I look forward to visiting the site again in the future when the houses are complete and occupied.”

It is expected that the homes will be complete by autumn 2008.
