20 February 2008 - Confiscation order over £30,000 against Belfast woman

The Social Security Agency Financial Investigation Unit obtained a Confiscation Order to the value of £39,914 against Leanne Thompson ( 29 ) of Bloomfield Parade Belfast today at Belfast Crown Court.

On 10 October 2007, the defendant had been found guilty of committing social security offences and was given a one year custodial sentence suspended for two years.

At today’s confiscation hearing, the Court agreed that the actual loss to DSD through the defendant’s criminal activity amounted to £44,752.69. The Court granted a Confiscation Order of £39,914 to allow for repayments made already by Leanne Thompson to DSD. The Confiscation Order was paid on 20 February 2008.
