26 February 2008 - Ballymena woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

Eileen Christie (52), of Colonsay Park, Ballymena, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £15,165 while failing to declare she was working full time. She was fined £300 and ordered to pay court costs of £67.

She will also have to repay to the Social Security Agency the money she wrongfully obtained.

This brings to 75 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
