26 February 2008 - Newtownabbey woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

Gabrielle Murphy (40), of Glengormley Park, Newtownabbey, claimed Income Support totalling £5,709 while failing to declare she was working full time. She was fined £225 and ordered to pay court costs of £37.

She will also have to repay to the Social Security Agency the money she wrongfully obtained.

This brings to 76 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
