Woman convicted of benefit fraud at Newry court
Friday, 5 February 2010A woman was convicted at Newry Crown court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
The woman claimed Income Support and Housing benefit totalling £23,025 while failing to declare capital. She was given a 12 month prison sentence suspended for one year.
She will also have to repay the money she wrongfully obtained from the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 55 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
