22 July 2008 - Man convicted of benefit fraud at Ballymena court

A man was convicted at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Robert Francis Robinson (57) of Chichester Park Central, Ballymena claimed Income Support and Job Seekers Allowance totalling £7,388 while failing to declare he had capital. He was fined £300 and ordered to pay court costs of £88.

Mr Robinson is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 244 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
