04 June 2008 - Kilkeel man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Rodney Hanna (40), of Randall Heights, Kilkeel, claimed Incapacity Benefit totaling £3,700 while failing to declare he was working full time. He was given 12 months probation.

He will also have to repay the money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 182 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
