18 June 2009 - Man convicted of benefit fraud at Bangor court

A man was convicted at Bangor Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Stephen Grainger (39) of Rathgill Court, Bangor claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £3,069 while failing to declare employment. He was given a 12 month probation order and ordered to pay £31 court costs.

Mr Grainger is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 219 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
