But the town centre needs a major upgrade. I am pleased to make this announcement for Downpatrick today. This investment will benefit the people and the town centre greatly. It will provide much needed improvements to the appearance of the centre of the town and will allow a better use of
St Patrick's Square for a wide range of activities.
“I would encourage everyone with an interest in our historic town to have their say on the proposals outlined. This is the start of a number of initiatives planned for the town which will present a positive and exciting new image of Downpatrick. I want to make it more appealing to residents, businesses and visitors and promote it as an important historic tourism destination.”
The Public Realm scheme proposals will be on display at the St. Patrick's Centre until Friday 26th June. People will also be able to comment on the plans at the exhibition.
