23 June 2008 - Londonderry woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman has been convicted at Londonderry Magistrates’ Court for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

Elizabeth Donnelly (51), of Bluebellhill Gardens, claimed Income Support totalling £4,721 while failing to declare she was working. She was given a conditional discharge for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £61.

Ms Donnelly will also have to repay the money she wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 206 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
